Silk Types Explained

As you know Anaphe only uses premium OEKO certified dye safe silk. But theres plenty of different weaves that we use to create our timeless designs.

We use mulberry silk in the following constructions -

Sand-Washed - Our signature barely there feel, ultra light weight 16momme silk that has a matte suede sheen texture. It feels like it has been brushed and this creates a beautiful soft finish. Perfect for day casual, office and evening wear. The most versatile silk.

Charmeuse - A heavier 19momme silk with a glossy, shiny finish for a more event/ evening feel. This is what most people think of when they hear the word 'silk'. We use this for our Atelier Collection as it is best suited for those moments you really want to shine.

Twill - While silk twill is mostly used by premium brands for scarfs due to it's durability. We use it for our daily wear collections due to its non-creasing, durability and matte sheen. It also offers the ability to have a more structured silhouette (less drape and more structure).

Organza - Silk organza we use for structured sheer designs. It's not as soft as traditional silk however it creates beautiful shapes and looks very elegant.

Crepe - Crepe is wrinkle resistant, durable and very easy to transition through seasons. Perfect for simple silhouettes. It has a slightly wrinkled feel and a light sheen. Perfect for hot humid conditions and cooler climates.
